Board of Supervisors Approves Revised Marina del Rey Affordable Housing Policy

MARINA DEL REY, California—Consistent with the County’s commitment of making Marina del Rey more accessible for all, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on October 17, 2023, unanimously approved a newly revised Marina del Rey Affordable Housing Policy. The updated Policy, which replaces the 2008 Policy, requires developers to ensure that 30% of all new residential units constructed in Marina del Rey are affordable. Currently, Marina del Rey contains 7,116 residential units, only 456 of which are designated as affordable units.

“As owner of the entirety of unincorporated Marina del Rey, the County has a unique opportunity to help address California’s housing shortage by ensuring that future development in the Marina will add to the supply of high-quality apartments at a variety of income levels,” Department of Beaches and Harbors Chief Deputy Director Amy Caves said. “We are confident that the Board’s adoption of the revised Affordable Housing Policy will increase the number of affordable units in line with our goal of making the Marina a more inclusive place for all.”
