Clean Marine Certification Program

The Clean Marine Certification Program is an ongoing partnership between private marina owners, government marina operators, and yacht clubs. It was developed to provide clean facilities to the boating community and protect waterways from pollution through compliance with best management practices.

On November 18, 2014 and January 15, 2015, the Department of Beaches and Harbors successfully obtained Clean Marine Certification for the two County-operated anchorages in Marina del Rey: Anchorage 47 and the Transient Docks at Burton Chace Park. Beaches and Harbors achieved this certification through an assortment of water quality related plans, personnel training, public outreach, operation and maintenance procedures, and the implementation of source control and structural Best Management Practices.

The Department of Beaches and Harbors is also encouraging and working with other anchorages in Marina del Rey to obtain the certification. See the figure below for a listing of the marinas currently certified by the Clean Marine Program. For more information on the program please visit http://www.cleanmarine.org.
