Set in ancient Egypt and packed with magnificent choruses and complex ensembles, Aida explores the conflict between private emotion and public duty through the intertwining story of its three protagonists: Amneris, the proud daughter of the pharaoh, King of Egypt; her slave, Aida, who is an Ethiopian princess and the daughter of Egypt’s worst enemy, King Amonasro; and Radamès, the Egyptian warrior they both love.
