BEACH WATER QUALITY
Know before you go!
Before going to the beach, check the water quality!
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health monitors ocean water quality through regular testing. When conditions pose a health risk, Public Health will issue an advisory or closure, and warning signs will be posted at affected locations.
Beach water quality conditions can change from day to day. Before going in the water:
- Check the latest water quality updates online before visiting the beach.
- Ask the nearest lifeguard tower about current conditions and look for posted advisory or closure signs.
- Follow all posted notices and lifeguard instructions. Do not enter the water during a water quality advisory or closure.
For the most up-to-date water quality information, check Public Health’s Ocean Water Quality Advisories page or call the Ocean Water Hotline at 800-525-5662.
