CAN THE TRASH! CLEAN BEACH POSTER CONTEST TO LAUNCH ON COASTAL CLEANUP DAY

Department of Beaches and Harbors, Heal the Bay kick off educational campaign reminding residents that “ocean pollution begins at home.”

Did you know that ocean pollution begins at home? A piece of trash that washes into a storm drain may eventually land in the ocean. The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors (DBH), with help from Heal the Bay, will kick off the Can the Trash! Clean Beach Poster Contest and educational campaign on Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, Sept. 15.

To kick off the educational campaign geared toward elementary school students, DBH and Heal the Bay have partnered to host a Coastal Cleanup Day beach cleanup and family-friendly activities at the Dockweiler Youth Center (DYC). Families can participate in the beach cleanup, then visit the DYC for environmentally themed games, art activities, and a chance to enter the poster contest.
