Bird logo Building a Better Oxford Basin
May 27, 2015  - LA County has re-envisioned the 56 year old basin to be a regional destination for public recreation & observing nature, while reducing flood risk, improving water quality, and establishing high-quality habitat. This $13 million project will increase flood protection and provide cleaner water, park like amenities, and a vibrant native plant habitat. The target for completion of this project is Spring 2016.

Clean harbors logo BOATERS - Help Keep Marina del Rey and Santa Monica Bay CLEAN! - The Department of Beaches and Harbors has partnered with the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation to create a proposed “Clean Harbors” outreach effort designed to raise public and boater awareness about their connection to water quality issues affecting Marina del Rey, as well as to mitigate water quality degradation by influencing the behavior of marina users through workshops and targeted publications.

Document icon Summer Use License Applications Accepted on First-Come, First-Served Basis (Starting March 2015) - Use Licenses will be awarded to qualified operators on a first-come, first-served basis provided all applicable fees are paid and all application and minimum safety requirements are met. A maximum of five Use Licenses per operator, including any other Use License(s) obtained from the Department. Yearly summer use license applications will not be accepted until MARCH 2015.

Dec 18, 2014  - Construction of the Marina del Rey 18-Inch Waterline Replacement Phase IIIB project began on December 15, 2014 and is anticipated to end in August 2015. This project will include both vehicular and bicycle detours throughout the duration of construction. Construction hours will be from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
