1. When do the Los Angeles County Beaches open and close?
The Los Angeles County Beaches open at 6:00am. During the winter,
the
parking lots for White Point and Royal Palms open at 8am.
The beaches that close at dusk are Nicholas Canyon, Point Dume,
Topanga,
Will Rogers Lot # 1 and #5, Dockweiler Bluff, 62nd Avenue, Grand
Avenue,
Torrance, White Point/Royal Palms.
Beaches that close at 10:00pm are Zuma, Will Rogers Lot #2 and
#3 at Temescal,
Venice (Rose, Venice, Washington), and Dockweiler at Imperial. Malibu
Lagoon
(Surfrider) and Point Vicente also close at 10:00pm.

3. How do I obtain a Senior Parking Pass to park at a Los Angeles
County Beach?
Requirements for a Senior Parking Pass are:
- You must be 62 years of age or older
- The vehicle must be registered to the applicant
- There is a limit of 2 passes per registered applicant
- Passes are valid on non-holiday weekdays
- To apply for a Senior Parking Pass, mail a copy of your current
California driver's
license and a copy of your current auto registration to:

4. Who do I call if one of the beach parking machines is broken
and I lost
my money?
Contact PCI at (310)821-1081 for repairs or refunds.
5. What does it cost to park at a Los Angeles County Beach?
Parking fees are posted at the entrance of each Los Angeles
County Beach, when
staffed. When unstaffed the rates are posted on each pay machine.
6. How do I apply for an Annual Parking Pass?
The Department of Beaches and Harbors is now offering an Annual
Beach Parking
Pass for the White Point/Royal Palms and Grand Avenue parking lots.
The passes
can be purchased by mail or walk in from Parking Concepts, Inc.,
14110 Palawan
Way, Marina del Rey CA 90292 during the hours of 8am and 5pm, 7
days a week.

7. Where can I park my Recreational Vehicle overnight?
Overnight parking is only allowed for Recreational Vehicles at the
Dockweiler
Recreational Vehicle Park. For

BEACHES
1. What is the weather like at the beach?
For current wind and weather conditions, view beach
webcams on the coastal
monitoring network.
2. Can I smoke on L.A. County beaches?
Most Los Angeles County beaches (except Redondo Beach) do not
allow any smoking.
This includes smoking material such as cigarettes, cigars or tobacco.
The City of
Santa Monica prohibits smoking on any public beach, anywhere on
the Santa Monica
Pier, or in any park. (Santa Monica Municipal Code, Article 4, Chapter
4.44)
The most common type of trash found on the beach is cigarette butts,
so please help
us keep our beaches clean and safe by not smoking.
3. Can I bring a barbecue or make a bonfire on a Los Angeles
County Beach?
No barbecues or bonfires are allowed on any of the Los Angeles
County Beaches
(or parking lots) except in the fire pits at Dockweiler in Playa
del Rey. Cooking fires
are allowed in the barbecue grills at Burton W. Chace Park in Marina
del Rey.

4. Can I bring alcoholic beverages to a Los Angeles County Beach?
No alcohol is permitted on any of the Los Angeles County Beaches.

5. Can I bring a dog to a Los Angeles County Beach?
No dogs, cats, horses or other animals are allowed on any of
the Los Angeles
County Beaches. (County Code sections 17.12.290 and 17.12.300)
6. Can I have a party on a Los Angeles County Beach or at Burton
Chace Park?

7. Can I bring a class to the beach for a field trip?
All organized youth groups (including schools) are required to have
a Beach Use

8. Do you offer any beach programs for kids?
The W.A.T.E.R. program offers programs for kids from 7-17 during
school vacations.
Scholarships are available based on need. Transportation (from selected
locations

9. Are there any kid-friendly beaches?
Children are welcome at all of the beaches. Marina "Mother's"
Beach is especially
good for children since there is no surf. For

10. Can I get married on a Los Angeles County Beach?

11. Are there any nude beaches in Los Angeles County?
Nude sunbathing is prohibited on all Los Angeles County Beaches.

12. There is a seal stranded on the beach. Who do I call?
Do not touch any stranded animals on the beach. The animals are
wild and may bite.

13. Can I film on a Los Angeles County Beach (other than family
photos or videos)?

stills, etc.) please call

14. Can I sell food or things on the beach?
A license is required to sell anything on the beach. We are not
issuing any more
licenses at this time.
15. Who do I call for storage for my bicycle or hand-launched
boat?
Storage is available for bicycles as well as small sailboats,
kayaks, and rowing
shells. For information, call 310-305-9566.
16. How much does it cost to launch a boat in Marina del Rey?
Launching a hand-carried small boat (such as a kayak, windsurfer,
or small sailboat)
is free at Marina "Mother's" Beach. There is 15 minute
free parking on Palawan Way
while launching. The Trailerable Boat Launch ramp is for larger
boats (sail and power),
and costs $7.00 per entry (one launch and retrieval, plus parking).

17. Can I ride a motorized vehicle or electric scooter on the
bike path?
No motorized vehicles or electric scooters are allowed on the bike
path.
18. Is there hang gliding along the beach?
There is a hang gliding facility at Dockweiler Beach. Click

19. Can I contact the Lifeguards?

20. Overnight camping, sleeping or loitering not allowed
No overnight camping or sleeping is allowed on Los Angeles County
beaches. Approved Recreational
Vehicles can park overnight only in the Dockweiler Beach Recreational
Vehicle Park.

There is also no loitering on the beaches allowed between the
hours of midnight and 6:00am.
21. No fireworks allowed
No firecrackers, rockets, torpedoes, fireworks, or other explosive
substances are allowed at
any time on the Los Angeles County beaches.

22. No amplified music
No amplified music is allowed on the beach. Certain events may obtain
a permit for

23. For your safety
Always swim near a lifeguard.
No glass containers are allowed on the beach.
All trash must be placed in trash cans.
No diving is allowed in shallow water.
BURTON
W. CHACE PARK
1. Can I have a party at Burton W. Chace Park?

2. Is there anywhere I can fish without a fishing license?
A fishing license is not required at the pier in Burton W. Chace
Park. The fishing pier is
located on the main channel of Marina del Rey at the west end of
the park. The fishing
pier is open from 6:00am to 10:00pm every day.
3. How long can I park my boat at the Guest Docks at Burton
Chace Park?
Boats can use the 4-hour docks anytime. For the overnight docks,
there is a limit
of 7 nights within any 30-day period. Fees are based on boat length.

DISABILITY ACCOMMODATIONS
1. Which beaches have beach wheelchairs?
Beach wheelchairs are available at Zuma, Topanga, Will Rogers,
Venice,
Marina, Dockweiler, Manhattan and Torrance beaches as well as Cabrillo
Marine Aquarium. Ask a lifeguard for access to the wheelchairs.

2. Do you provide TTY phone numbers for the hearing impaired?
Yes, we support the Americans with Disabilities Act with two TTY
phone numbers.
One is at the Visitor's Center (310-821-1734). The other is at our
Administration
building (310-578-2371).
